The education maintenance allowance (EMA) is a weekly payment of up to £30, paid directly to young people who stay on in further education from age 16 to 19. The scheme is available in England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.
Adult/assembly learning grants are available in England and Wales to help you study if you are over 19.
You can find out more about EMAs in our Factsheet F48 - education maintenance allowance.
