What is BT Basic?

BT Basic is a low-cost line rental service for people on benefits. The BT Basic line rental is £13.80 every three months. It also includes a call allowance of £4.50 every three months. If your phone calls to normal UK or international destinations never go over that amount, your bill will never be more than £13.80 every three months.

If you don't use up all of your call allowance, you cannot carry this over to the next three months.

If you do go over your call allowance, you will have to pay 10.3p a minute plus 3p for each phone call for all normal UK calls (numbers that begin with 01, 02 or 03).

How do I apply?

You can apply for BT Basic by calling 0800 800 864 and asking for an application form. You must be the named telephone account holder to be able to apply.
