the big Q campaign
Age Concern have launched The Big Q, a new campaign calling for older people to be provided with high quality care that meets their individual needs. Posted 17 June 2008.

cutting the cost of child poverty
The TUC is calling on the Government to invest an extra £4 billion in the Child Tax Credit to help end child poverty. Posted 26 February 2008.

mental health bill - This Bill amends the Mental Health Act 1983 and the Mental Capacity Act 2005 in relation to mentally disordered persons. Mind are also campaigning against certain aspects of the Bill's proposals. Posted 22 June 2007.

time to get equal campaign - Scope campaign aimed at ensuring disabled people have the same rights and opportunities as everybody else. Posted 18 June 2007.

real change not short change - Carers UK campaign calling for a radical rethink on how society values carers. The current benefits system does not allow carers an acceptable standard of living and neither recognises nor values them for the contribution they make to the national economy. Posted 12 June 2007.

our lives our choices - This is a campaign supported by various organisations to fight for a fair social care system and in support of the Disabled People’s Independent Living Bill. Posted 7 June 2007.

learning disability coalition - A coalition of ten learning disability organisations. They want to make sure the government provides enough public money so that people with a learning disability have the same choices and chances as everyone else. Posted 4 June 2007.

tax credit overpayments campaign - Campaign to reform the tax credits overpayment system. Posted 1 June 2007.

fight for heating - A website where individuals can campaign for a heating allowance for people with disabilities under the age of 60. Posted 1 June 2007.

death by indifference - This Mencap campaign is a follow up to the 'Treat me right!' campaign, which was originally launched in 2004 to highlight the inequality in healthcare provision for people with a learning disability. Posted 15 May 2007.

gojo - Disability Rights Commission campaign aimed at increasing young disabled people’s confidence when using public transport. You can view further information on the gojo website. Posted 15 May 2007.

caring choices - This is a nationwide initiative, initiated by 15 organisations, to help shape future policy on long-term care for older people. They are holding a series of events to gather opinions from older people and individuals who are involved in the care system. Posted 8 May 2007.

age concern's "your rights campaign" - This campaign is intended to encourage older people to claim benefits that are rightfully theirs. Age Concern aims to put over £100 million more in the pockets of older people during 2006/2007. Posted 3 May 2007.

carers uk is lobbying for changes to the pensions bill, so more carers will benefit from the carer credit - The Government says extension of Carer's Credit will be explored as part of review of National Carers Strategy. Posted 23 April 2007.

me is real - This is a campaign to get the Health Service and medical profession to accept the World Health Organisation (WHO) classification of Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Myalgic Encephalopathy(ME) and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) as organic neurological disorders and not as psychosocial syndromes. every disabled child matters (edcm) campaign - EDCM is a campaign by four leading organisations working with disabled children and their families – Contact a Family, Council for Disabled Children, Mencap and the Special Educational Consortium. They want you to support The Disabled Children (Family Support) Bill which will introduce a specific duty on local authorities and Primary Care Trusts to provide appropriate short breaks for families with disabled children who provide a substantial level of ongoing care. The Bill applies to England and Wales. Posted 19 January 2007.

heyday takes government to european court over mandatory retirement age
Heyday, supported by Age Concern, took a case to the High Court concerning the Employment Equality (Age) Regulations (2006) and employment rights for people over the age of 65. The case has now been referred to the European Court of Justice. Posted 22 December 2006.

where’s my book – the right to read campaign
Blind and partially sighted children throughout the UK are losing out on their education because they can’t always get hold of textbooks they can read. RNIB is calling for the Government to provide a central pool of books available electronically that teachers can download and adapt to the specific needs of the children they work with. Royal National Institute of Blind People(RNIB) are campaigning for the higher rate mobility component of DLA to be automatically available to people with serious sight loss. Posted 20 September 2006.
