Consultation on the revision of the Fair Access to Care Services guidance to support councils to determine eligibility for social care services

Background

This paper was a consultation carried out by the Department of Health on the revision of the statutory guidance providing local authorities with a framework to determine individual eligibility for social care - the "Fair Access to Care Services" guidance.

The closing date for responses was 6 October 2009.

Department of Health response

On 16 December 2009 the Department of Health published its response to the consultation.

This report is a summary of the consultation responses. The revised guidance will replace the 2003 Fair Access to Care Services guidance and aims to support fair and transparent implementation of eligibility criteria, within the new policy context of personalisation and prevention set out in Putting People First.
