Consultation: The Right to Control Regulations

Background

On 25 February 2010, the government announced the eight local authority areas that will test the Right to Control. They are:

• Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council and Sheffield City Council
• Essex County Council
• Greater Manchester , this includes Manchester City Council, Oldham Council, Bury Council, Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council and Trafford Council
• Leicester City Council
• London Borough of Barnet
• London Borough of Newham
• Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council
• Surrey County Council (Epsom and Ewell Borough Council and Reigate and Banstead Borough Council).

The Office for Disability Issues (ODI) has also launched a consultation on the regulations which govern the Right to Control Trailblazers. ODI would like to hear from:

• disabled people and their organisations, particularly those working in Trailblazer areas
• voluntary organisations
• service providers and their representative bodies

Closing date for responses

The closing date for responses is 19 May 2010.
