On 25 February 2010, the government announced the eight local authority areas that will test the Right to Control. They are:
Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council and Sheffield City Council
Essex County Council
Greater Manchester , this includes Manchester City Council, Oldham Council, Bury Council, Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council and Trafford Council
Leicester City Council
London Borough of Barnet
London Borough of Newham
Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council
Surrey County Council (Epsom and Ewell Borough Council and Reigate and Banstead Borough Council).
The Office for Disability Issues (ODI) has also launched a consultation on the regulations which govern the Right to Control Trailblazers. ODI would like to hear from:
disabled people and their organisations, particularly those working in Trailblazer areas
voluntary organisations
service providers and their representative bodies
Closing date for responses
The closing date for responses is 19 May 2010.
