This is Department for Work and Pensions consultation, published December 2011, proposed two changes to the regulations for the crediting of National Insurance contributions.
They include protection for National Insurance credits people where NI contributions have been awarded erroneously and introduce new National Insurance credits arrangements for people who receive additional statutory paternity pay.
The consultation applied to England, Wales and Scotland.
The closing date for responses was 13 January 2012.
Regulation 8E of the Social Security (Credits) Regulations 1975 - The DWP wants to amend regulation 8E to remove the restriction that applies to customers who were incorrectly awarded National Insurance credits at the end of their claim for incapacity benefit (IB). The restriction is that a person must reach State Pension age by 31 May 2008.
Regulation 9C of the Social Security (Credits) Regulations 1975 - The proposal will provide a National Insurance credit for people (including those who are adopting) who receive Additional Statutory Paternity Pay.
