Employment and support allowanceEmployment and support allowance (ESA) is a new benefit paid to people whose ability to work is limited by ill health or disability. It is intended to replace both incapacity benefit (IB) and income support (IS) paid on the grounds of incapacity for new claimants from 27 October 2008 and for existing IB/IS claimants at a later date.
Disability Alliance has produced four factsheets based on the information available at the time they were written. As we find out more they will be updated.
