Fairer Contributions Guidance

A consultation on the extension and revision of the statutory guidance for charging for non-residential social services in relation to personal budgets

This Department of Health consultation paper, examines the extension and revision of the statutory guidance for charging for non-residential social services, the 'Fairer Charging guidance'.

The aim of the new guidance is to provide councils with a system for calculating how much users should contribute in cases where they have personal budgets.

The proposed new guidance will be a companion to the existing Fairer Charging guidance. Fairer Contributions guidance does not cover the means test for charging, which will still be calculated under Fairer Charging guidance.

Once the necessary consultation has been undertaken the new guidance will be implemented by March 2010.

Closing date

The closing date for responses was 19 April 2009.
