Disability Alliance held a launch to celebrate two of its new publications - Moving into Work and the latest edition of the Disability Rights Handbook.

The event was held at Toynbee Hall on Tuesday 23 May 2006 between 2.00pm and 4.00pm.

The speakers for the launch were Lord Ashley, Peter Barnett, Head of External Affairs for Unumprovident, who sponsored the "Moving into Work" guide and Lorna Reith, Chief Executive of Disability Alliance.

Peter Barnett speaks on behalf of Unumprovident, sponsors of the "Moving into Work" guide.

"Moving into Work" provides an overview of the benefits and tax credits you can claim whilst looking for and starting work, as well as information about the help available from Jobcentre Plus and other agencies, to find the right job or training. It has coverage of employment law, your rights at work as well as up-to-date information on where to find help and information from government departments, independent advice agencies and via the internet. It is an essential guide for disabled people and those supporting them.

The "Disability Rights Handbook" is the complete guide to social security benefits, tax credits and related services for disabled people. It is fully updated each year and has helped hundreds of thousands of disabled people, their families, carers and professional advisers in the UK. This is the 31st edition.
