The ombudsman undertakes independent investigations into complaints about government departments and other public bodies.

central services agency
Part of the Health and Social Services in Northern Ireland. Administers prescription charging scheme in Northern Ireland.

child trust fund
Explains about the scheme and how to open an account.

childcare approval scheme
A voluntary scheme for approving childcare providers and enabling parents and employers to check if a carer is approved. Once approved this childcare is eligible for help under the tax credits system.

disability living allowance advisory board (dlaab)
An independent statutory body set up to advise the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions and Social Security Medical Services doctors on matters relating directly to disability living allowance (DLA) and attendance allowance (AA).

equality and human rights commission
This website incorporates the Commission for Racial Equality (CRE) the Disability Rights Commission (DRC) and the Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC).

institute of revenues rating and valuation (irrv)
Claims to be the largest professional institution operating in the field of revenues, benefits and valuation. Used to have a free resource of relevant acts, case law, circulars, guidance, regulations etc. but this is now subscription only.

jobcentre plus
You can find information about jobcentre plus services, including access to work. You can also download forms. 

land and property services
Responsible for the collection and recovery of rates in Northern Ireland on behalf of Central Government and the Province's 26 district councils as well as the management of the housing benefit scheme for those ratepayers who are owner-occupiers and the disabled person's allowance scheme.

Has a number of factsheets to download and online search facilities related to local housing allowance.

Responsible for policy on the overall criminal, civil, family and administrative justice system, including sentencing policy, as well as the courts, tribunals, legal aid and constitutional reform.

national care standards commission
The commission was set up under the Care Standards Act 2000, to regulate social care and private and voluntary health care services throughout England.

The Commissioner's role is to monitor, report and advise on over 11,000 Ministerial appointments to public bodies in England, Scotland and Wales.

office of the public guardian
Responsible for providing services which promote the financial and social well being of people with mental incapacity. Publishes a booklet on enduring power of attorney.

office of public sector information
Provides online access to UK legislation (including hmso) licenses the re-use of Crown copyright material, manages the Information Fair Trader Scheme, maintains the Government’s Information Asset Register and provides advice and guidance on official publishing and Crown copyright.

official documents website
Contains a selection of Government titles covering a very broad range of topics including the economy, work and welfare, health, transport and the environment. This includes Command Papers (sometimes known as White or Green Papers) and House of Commons Papers.

The Supporting People programme is intended to offer vulnerable people strategically planned housing-related services to complement existing care services.
