Long term sick could be worse off if moved onto ESA

The Low Incomes Tax Reform Group (LITRG) is concerned that people who have been on incapacity benefit (IB) since April 1995 or before will lose out when they are transferred over to employment and support allowance because of changes to how they will be taxed.

Currently these claimants receive their IB tax-free but this will be discontinued when they transfer to the new benefit.

For more information see the LITRG website.
