Social Development Minister Alex Attwood has announced £127million over the next four years to support new measures to fight fuel poverty and help vulnerable people who are struggling to heat their homes.
These measures include:
a pilot boiler replacement scheme available to those who are over 60 years old, receive a state pension and have a boiler which is 15 years old or more.
respectively £15 million, £15.5 million, £16million, £16.5 million allocated to the Warm Homes Scheme across the next four years which will be spent on private sector houses.
£16 million spent by the Housing Executive in 2011/12 from its maintenance budget on fuel poverty measures for its own houses. These include heating adaptations, heating replacements and thermal comfort improvements. This level of maintenance expenditure is expected to continue in the following three years.
