A new report, Disabled people's costs of living", based on research by Disability Alliance and the Centre for Research in Social Policy at Loughborough University, shows just how expensive life is if you’re disabled.
Using disabled people as ‘experts’, the research looked at the extra costs faced by disabled people with different types of impairment. Consensual budget standards were then developed which can be used to assess the adequacy of benefit levels, judge the reasonableness of community care charges and the accuracy of Government measurements of poverty amongst disabled people.
