R74: Response to Higher Education: Students at the Heart of the System

22 September 2011

This Disability Alliance response reflects the views and contributions of our members, Disability Advisers in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), careers guidance practitioners, disabled students and professionals working with them.

In addition voluntary sector organisations with experience of supporting disabled students and their families have responded to Disability Alliance. These contributors have particular experience of the needs of students with specific impairments and support needs, for example visual or hearing impairments, mobility access, or specific learning difficulties such as Asperger’s or dyslexia.

To provide relevant evidence and inform our response Disability Alliance has conducted one survey of members and partners, another of disabled students, met with Minister for Higher Education, David Willetts and the National Union of Students.
