what's new
This course is suited to anyone providing advice or support to students in higher education eg disability workers, Student Services staff and advice agencies.
Changes to higher education fees, grants and loans, the complexities of social security benefits and tax credits and the interaction of benefits with grants/loans can create a barrier to providing in-depth support and information to disabled students.
Attending this course will give you a deeper understanding of the subject matter and improve the standard of advice and information you are able to offer disabled students.
The content of this course was developed by experts and tested by a pilot group of education support staff, voluntary sector advice staff and welfare rights workers.
This course has been developed as part of a collaborative project, which brings together Skill's expertise around student finance issues and Disability Alliance's expertise around benefits and tax credits for disabled people and carers.
Standard rate £120.00
Member rate £90.00
Member rate applies to members of Skill or Disability Alliance
Pre-training papers, including venue details, will be issued 7-14 days before the event.
Cancellations will be accepted up to five working days before the course, less a 10% admin charge. After this point, no refunds can be given but a replacement delegate may be sent.
If you have any disability related needs to enable you to participate in this course, please let us know. All our training venues are accessible to wheelchair users.
Unfortunately, as a small charity we are unable to provide or pay for BSL interpreters on our training course. However, we encourage deaf and hearing impaired people to attend and give signers, personal assistants and facilitators who attend with them a copy of course materials and refreshments free of charge.
