""Benefits and support for disabled students in higher education - further information

Is this course for me?

This course is suited to anyone providing advice or support to students in higher education eg disability workers, Student Services staff and advice agencies.

Changes to higher education fees, grants and loans, the complexities of social security benefits and tax credits and the interaction of benefits with grants/loans can create a barrier to providing in-depth support and information to disabled students.

Course outcomes

Attending this course will give you a deeper understanding of the subject matter and improve the standard of advice and information you are able to offer disabled students.

The content of this course was developed by experts and tested by a pilot group of education support staff, voluntary sector advice staff and welfare rights workers.

Training in partnership

This course has been developed as part of a collaborative project, funded by Lloyds TSB Foundation for England and Wales. The project brings together Skill s expertise around student finance issues and Disability Alliance's expertise around benefits and tax credits for disabled people and carers.

Cost per place

Standard rate £110.00
Member rate £80.00

Member rate applies to members of Skill or Disability Alliance

If you have any disability related needs to enable you to participate in this course, please let us know. All our training venues are accessible to wheelchair users.

British Sign Language (BSL) Interpreters

Unfortunately, as a small charity we are unable to provide or pay for BSL interpreters on our training course. However, we encourage deaf and hearing impaired people to attend and give signers, personal assistants and facilitators who attend with them a copy of course materials and refreshments free of charge.

You can hire sign language interpreters through RNID.
