Disability Alliance’s Tribunal Support Unit has been supporting advisers in the Greater London area for 3 years. Funded by the Big Lottery fund, the unit provided support to advisers who needed to challenge social security benefit decisions on behalf of their clients.
Sadly, the 3 year project has now come to an end. Evaluations tell us that the consultancy helpline, seminar and training courses have been very well received. Our end of project report is being prepared. Throughout the project we provided 312 individual places on training courses for advisers. The helpline received 600 contacts, containing over 1000 enquiries. Our website statistics show that the factsheets and Benefit Appeals guide produced by the TSU are extremely popular.
Over the three years of the project the unit produced a number of useful publications including our "Benefit appeals guide" and numerous factsheets on appeals and employment and support allowance subjects. These will continue to be updated after the unit has closed.
