Tribunal Support Unit

24 November 2011

The Tribunal Support Unit (TSU) is a free service for advisers dealing with social security benefits and tax credits.  It offers help with complex benefit questions through all stages of the decision-making and appeals systems.

We offer advice and assistance with all stages of the appeals process, from analysing decisions and identifying grounds for appeal, through to support in preparing for and representing at hearings.

The service is focused on supporting London-based advice services, but we can provide some assistance to advisers outside London.

Hosting the service is Keith Venables. Keith has worked in the advice sector for over 25 years, mostly in the area of welfare rights. He has extensive casework experience at all levels including representation before the First-Tier Tribunal and the Upper Tribunal.

Adviser’s helpline

You can call us for advice on 0207 1010 397, on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, between 10.00am to 12.00 noon and 2.00pm to 4.00pm.

You can also e-mail us for advice at kvenables@disabilityalliance.org at any time.

While we cannot afford to run an advice service for individuals at present we aim to provide information about benefits thorough our publications, factsheets and our website. Our guide to Finding a Local Advice Centre is available at www.disabilityalliance.org/f15.htm

If you are being treated less favourably or experience discrimination because of your disability, contact Unity Law at www.unity-law.co.uk  or on 0114 361 0000.
